Veterans Medical Transportation Newsletter | 2026
Topic: Free Medical Transportation for Veterans
Rabbitcares, the charitable arm of Rabbittransit, focuses on helping community members access public transportation by understanding their needs. For many people in our community, especially our veterans, a ride is more than getting from one place to another. It helps them stay independent, get to important appointments, and feel connected. Veterans served our country, and we want to ensure our community can serve them.
This is why Rabbitcares offers free medical transportation for eligible veterans across Adams, Columbia, Cumberland, Franklin, Montour, Northumberland, and York Counties. By applying to rabbittransit’s Paratransit/Shared Ride program, eligible veterans can schedule medical trips to regional VA medical centers and outpatient clinics throughout Central Pennsylvania and beyond. These trips are made possible through partnerships with county Veterans Affairs offices and local agencies.
Veterans are encouraged to apply before they need a ride. Being approved ahead of time helps ensure that a reliable transportation option is already in place when plans change or additional support is needed. All Shared Ride trips require a reservation. Veterans can schedule a trip by calling 1-800-632-9063 and selecting option 3. Reservations for medical appointments may be made in advance, and all vehicles are ADA-accessible. Escorts may ride with riders when needed.
Applications can be downloaded and mailed to rabbittransit at 415 N. Zarfoss Drive, York, PA 17404; or 901 N. Cameron Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101. For more information, visit https://www.rabbittransit.org/services/veterans-transportation/.
This program helps veterans get the care they need without worrying about how they will get there. It is one way our community can give back to the people who have already given so much. If you would like to help support this cause, you can donate at https://www.rabbittransit.org/product/veterans-transportation-fund/.
Camp Cadet Seeking Donations
Susquehanna Valley Law Enforcement Camp Cadet (SVLECC), a non-profit organization providing a structured week-long camp to area youth ages 12 to 15 years old. The Pennsylvanian State Police, Troop F, Milton, Selinsgrove, and Stonington along with other Law Enforcement agencies host this program solely through individual and business donations. During this week-long camp, our cadets are instilled with lifelong values of teamwork, discipline, self-esteem, and leadership skills. Each year, approximately 75 youth participate in a nonstop structured residential camp that motivates a shift in their mindset to help them succeed in everything they do. Youth that graduate from this program attest that they complete more in one week than most of their peers do in an entire summer, all at no cost to the cadet.
SVLECC is a registered 501(c)3 and is only possible through tax-deductible financial contributions from individuals, businesses and grants. This year, SVLECC is committed to securing sponsorships that will allow every youth in our area equitable and inclusive access to the opportunities and resources that our camp provides. To do this, the board members of the SVLECC hopes to gain support to waive the registration fee for all participants to remove barriers that might keep youth from attending our camp. We also strive to inspire lifelong fitness and health among the other skillsets. SVLECC has increased our educational programing for 2026 to include motivational speakers, mental health, hands on tactics, Health effects of Vaping, and additional presentations on careers within law enforcement.
SVLECC would be seeking financial sponsorship to continue empowering area youth. By allocating a portion of your budget or vowing to sponsor a cadet, your organization will be investing in a positive development of future leaders and making an impact on the lives of you people in our community. SVLECC would be grateful for your financial sponsorship.
Together, we can expand our reach and inspire youth to develop strong teamwork, leadership, discipline, self-esteem, and the motivation to serve others. Please consider donating to support the Susquehanna Valley Law Enforcement Camp Cadet program. Please feel free to visit Susquehanna Valley Law Enforcement Camp Cadet to gain more information on how you could directly impact our mission to serve our youth.
Stop Hopper 2025
Request a stop, we’ll hop to it!
When communities have increased mobility options, residents have increased possibilities to improve their quality of life. Whether you’re headed to the grocery store, a doctor’s appointment, the gym, or your next shift at work, rabbittransit’s Stop Hopper helps make everyday trips simple, reliable, and affordable.
Available in Montour County, Stop Hopper is an on-demand microtransit service that brings flexible public transportation to rural and small-town communities. It’s designed to fill the gap between traditional bus routes and personal transportation, using compact, neighborhood-friendly vehicles that come to you.
It works similarly to a rideshare: you use the Stop Hopper app to request a ride anywhere within the service zone. That could be your home, your job, or just about anywhere else you need to be.
Once you request your stop, we’ll hop to it. The app gives you an estimated pick-up time, lets you track your ride in real time, and sends an alert when the vehicle arrives. All for just $2.00 per one-way trip, or free for seniors 65+ with a registered Free Fare ID card.
What can you do with Stop Hopper?
- Commute to work
- Run errands or grab groceries
- Visit friends and family
- Get to the gym or community center
- Connect to rabbittransit’s fixed-route buses
To ride, just download the Stop Hopper app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android), check if your pickup and drop-off spots are within the zone, and book your ride. It’s public transit designed for your everyday life. If you need assistance requesting your trip, call rabbittransit’s customer service department at 1-800-632-9063.
Your ride is just a tap away. Request a stop, we’ll hop to it!
